Veterinary Technician

Somerset Veterinary Hospital is looking to hire a compassionate veterinary technician to join our dedicated team on a full-time basis. Our goal is to make patients feel at home while providing an atmosphere to make the entire family feel comfortable and welcome. Experience is preferred.  Qualifying skills include:

  • Comfort in placing IV catheters
  • Calculating drug dosages
  • Administering medications to patients
  • Preparing patients, instruments, and equipment for surgery
  • Preparing patients, instruments, and equipment for surgery
  • Monitoring patients under sedation or general anesthesia
  • Assisting doctors with medical care and patient treatments
  • Building relationships with pets and their family through compassionate care
  • Effective communication, and client education
  • Working well with a tight-knit team of medical professionals

Pay is proportionate to experience.  Full-time veterinary technicians are eligible for excellent benefits including:

Veterinary Receptionist

Somerset Veterinary Hospital is looking to hire a compassionate veterinary receptionist to join our dedicated team on a full-time basis. Our goal is to make patients feel at home while providing an atmosphere to make the entire family feel comfortable and welcome. Experience is preferred.  Qualifying skills include:

  • Clerical Duties - obtaining previous patient documentation, preparing needed forms in advance of clients’ arrival, assure financial obligations, email/ text communication, ensure cleanliness of workspace, and opening/closing duties.
  • Customer Service - Provide friendly, quality client care, phone calls, answering inquiries promptly, recording messages, strong communication and service skills, appropriately triage patients, and provide knowledgeable sub-professional advice.
  • Organization - Strong organization skills, knowledge of hospital procedures, terminology knowledge, understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making, and ability to multi-task.
  • Communication Skills - Excellent verbal and written communication, strong client service skills, considerable tact and empathy are required, accurately relay owner’s account of the medical complaint(s) of the pet(s) involved, active listening skills, asking relevant questions for appropriate patient care.
  • Technical Skills - Knowledge of phone, computer, integrated texting platforms, email, and other relevant software applications.
  • Patient Care - Building relationships with pets and their family through compassionate care, general interaction and handling of patients using Fear Free training.
