Somerset Veterinary Hospital is a small practice with a dedicated support team that loves animals and is committed to our clients. We are proud to introduce you to a team of employees who sincerely enjoys what they do:


Office Manager & Veterinary Nurse

Chase grew up outside of Sioux City.  Her love for animals blossomed at an early age when her parents were nice enough to let her keep every stray animal she came home with. She attended Cedar Valley College where she obtained her degree in Veterinary Technology and joined the Somerset team in 2012.  Chase enjoys interacting with clients and their fur babies. In her spare time, she plays intermural softball and volleyball, as well as spending time with her family and friends. Chase, her husband, and their daughter Ryan share their home with 3 dogs, a cat, and 2 horses.


Client Service Representative

Alyssa grew up in Moingona, Iowa with a passion for rescuing animals at a very young age. After working as a Community Outreach Coordinator and Customer Experience Supervisor at a large rescue organization, she joined the Somerset Team in 2018. Alyssa is extremely enthusiastic about helping people and their beloved pets. She enjoys traveling and spending time in nature with her fiancé and their three dogs, Queen, Jimmy and Oakley.

Emily J.

Client Service Representative

Emily grew up in Story City, Iowa. After getting her first job in high school at a local veterinary clinic, she knew this was the perfect field for her. Since then she has expanded her knowledge and first got her Associates Degree in Science from Des Moines Area Community College; she then went on to Iowa State University to complete her Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science. Emily joined the Somerset team in January of 2019. What she has enjoyed most about her time here is the connections she’s made with the clients and getting to cuddle their adorable fur-babies every day! Emily enjoys spending time with her family and close friends, and having a movie night in with her fiancé and their cat Coda.

Paige N.

Veterinary Nurse

Paige is from Northwest, Iowa.  She received her veterinary technician degree from Ridgewater College in Minnesota, and joined the Somerset family in October 2018. Paige enjoys working with both cats and dogs!  In her spare time, she also enjoys spending time with family and friends.  Paige is the proud parent of her cat named Zoey!

Emily P.

Veterinary Nurse

Emily grew up in the Des Moines area, and is now living in Ames with her husband and their three pets. Emily completed her Veterinary Technician certification in 2017, and has worked in a specialty practice in Des Moines for the last two and a half years. She joined the Somerset team in 2019, and is not only excited to be closer to home, but to also build a close relationship with the clients and pets that Somerset serves.

Baily J.

Client Service Representative

Bailey grew up in Grimes, Iowa. Her love of animals was at the forefront of her childhood years, spending most of her time with two cats and two puggles. Bailey realized she wanted to make working with animals into a career after spending two years at a dog daycare and grooming facility. Life led her to Somerset, and she’s so glad it did! Her favorite thing about working at Somerset Veterinary Hospital is the privilege to build relationships with clients and their furry family members.


Veterinary Assistant

Mindy grew up in Norwalk Iowa, graduated from DMACC with a liberal arts degree, and then attended Iowa State University.  She recently moved back to the Ames area from Sioux City where she has been a veterinary assistant for the 16 years.  In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, including her two dogs Mabel and Artie.


Veterinary Assistant

Katie is from Bexhill-on-Sea England and came to Iowa to live near her husband’s family. She completed undergraduate in Comparative Literature at the University of Kent, and she is currently studying at DMACC and Iowa State University to get her prerequisites for Veterinary Medicine. Katie’s husband, mother-in-law, and son Rowan share their house with an Irish Terrier names Goose, and three rabbits named Kafka, Zelda, and Fitzgerald.


Veterinary Assistant

Abby started her veterinary career with a background in shelter medicine and clinical experience over the course of 5 years in both fields. She is currently attending San Juan College to complete her degree in veterinary technology. Abby lives in Des Moines and has two pets; a cat named Sebastian, and a dog named Lucy.

Eryn H.

Veterinary Assistant

Eryn grew up in Mason City, Iowa. She had a passion for rescuing stray animals in the neighborhood and volunteering at the local Humane Society. Eryn attended Iowa State University where she worked at the Wildlife Care Clinic to help rescue and rehabilitate injured and orphaned wildlife. She worked as the volunteer coordinator before being promoted to Co-Head of Staff her senior year of college. She graduated from Iowa State University in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Ecology, as well as a minor in Learning and Leadership Sciences. Eryn joined the Somerset team in February 2019; she plans to go back to school to obtain her Veterinary Technician certification. Eryn lives in Ames and spends her free time with friends, family, and her cat Mini.


Kennel Assistant

Caroline grew up in Saint Charles, Illinois and is attending Iowa State University with a double major in Animal Science and Biology. Caroline has loved veterinary medicine since she was young as has been actively part of the hospital atmosphere since high school. Aside from playing with her Chocolate Labrador Retriever and a Russian Blue cat, she enjoys running, biking, and hiking in her free time.

Mary V.

Kennel Assitant

Mary grew up in Grundy Center, Iowa raising cattle and any other farm critter that comes to mind. Currently, she attends Iowa State University majoring in Animal Science goals of pursuing Veterinary Medicine. Her pet potbellied pig, Leo, is her the love of her life. Mary loves spending her free time fishing or taking part in anything that involves being outdoors.
